Tobey looks at the world

Pet: Tobey

posted by Robin on 11/30/2009 at 4:25 p.m. Pacific

Tobey is doing great! Eating just fine, friendly and very interested in having some company. It's kind of a gloomy day but at least it's not raining, so we went out to the patio and she took a look at the big world. All is well!

Pets: Josie, Molly, and Emma

posted by Robin on 11/29/2009 at 5:25 p.m. Pacific

Josie is SO cuddly these days. As soon as I am finished with the feeding and scooping, she hops in my lap and purrs like crazy. When Emma came over to get a few pets of her own, Josie even hissed at her and made her run away! I guess she is ruling the roost now. Molly got some petting too - I think they are all feeling a little lonesome, and will be glad to have their people (and even Sky!) back at home. Safe travels back!

Pets: Lenny and Ruby

posted by Angie on 11/28/2009 at 8:15 p.m. Pacific

Ruby has come out of her shell big time, and she's a real ham! She talks, rolls on the floor, and chases her wire toy all around the living room. Lenny, the cat of luxury, prefers his chow followed by a little time on a warm lap. I'm really loving getting to know them better on their own.

Josey surveys the backyard

I couldn't find any extra mousie toys, but I did notice the laser toy so Emma and Molly and I played with that for quite a while - they had a good workout! Josie was not interested in the laser toy and preferred to go outside and survey the back yard. Both Josie and Molly wanted to spend time getting petted - Emma preferred trying to catch the laser light, although she refused to follow it off the rug - ! Doesn't like sliding around on the floor I guess.

Pet: Tobey

posted by Angie on 11/28/2009 at 8:15 p.m. Pacific

Tobey has been a hungry girl--she licked her bowls clean--and I think it's made her more playful! She supervised me while I reloaded her bowls, then followed me downstairs to play and have her back scratched. It's so rewarding to see her after so many visits when the only evidence I had of her was a full litter box and empty bowls. She's darling.

Pets: Lenny and Ruby

posted by Angie on 11/27/2009 at 6:25 p.m. Pacific

I think Ruby, especially, has been loving not having that darned dog around. She's been such a hostess--she meets me in the hall, walks me into the kitchen and watches while Lenny tucks into dinner before daintily eating her own meal. I've loved getting to spend more time with them.

Pets: Clovis and Rigby

posted by Angie on 11/27/2009 at 6:25 p.m. Pacific

Another fun visit with the girls. Today, I was lying on the floor, and Rigby started pulling the bobby pins out of my hair with her teeth! She's so funny. Clovis looked on in fascination and disgust. They did their usual routine of one cat eating while the other came by for pets and brushing for a few minutes before they switched.

Pets: Josey, Molly and Emma

posted by Angie on 11/27/2009 at 6:25 p.m. Pacific

Today was sunny with lots of bright patches of light for kitties to nap. They were a little uncertain how to respond to me since they don't know me well, but it turns out that a little Fancy Feast makes friends quickly! Everyone looks happy and healthy.

Pets: Lenny and Ruby

posted byAngie on 11/27/2009 at 6:55 a.m. Pacific

I sure miss Lily, but Lenny and Ruby seem to be enjoying their cat time! Ruby is strutting around like queen of the condo, and Lenny likes it that he gets more time in my lap. They're both eating well and look spry and happy.

Pets: Clovis and Rigby

posted by Angie on 11/27/2009 at 6:55 a.m. Pacific

It's great to see the girls again. They sang me a duet when I came in, and I believe the lyrics were something like "time for dinner meow meow meow". Then, to thank me, Clovis rolled over and displayed her belly for a few tantalizing minutes. Rigby demanded some quality time with the brush.

Pet: Tobey

posted by Angie on 11/27/2009 at 6:55 a.m. Pacific

Tobey was napping in one of her secret locations when I came by today (I think she was in a secret CIA-approved vector), so I didn't see her, but I could tell that she'd been eating well. So I refilled her bowls, scooped the box, and sent her happy thoughts for sweet dreams.

Pets: Josie, Molly, and Emma

posted by Robin on 11/26/2009 at 7:55 p.m. Pacific

Josie was my greeter this morning, but as soon as I got the canned food out of the fridge I suddenly had all three kitties milling about my feet! After they had some nibbles, Josie climbed in my lap for a while, purring and getting petted, while Molly and Emma chased around the living room. I rolled a toy mouse across the floor for them, but they looked very uninterested in that - I think they were having kitty fantasies that were more fun, or at least I couldn't see what they were running after or away from! It's rainy and miserable, and I think they all three went back to snuggle up in bed as soon as I left.

Pets: Lenny and Ruby

posted by Robin on 11/25/2009 at 7:10 p.m. Pacific

I'm really enjoying have some extra time with these two! They are continuing with the pattern they established yesterday: Lenny eats while Ruby tells me what is on her mind, then she eats while Lenny gets brushed and rubbed. They both seem very relaxed and friendly - no hiding this time!

Pets: Clovis and Rigby

posted by Robin on 11/25/2009 at 7:10 p.m. Pacific

Rigby and the feathers

Great to see the girls again! They didn't even seem that surprised to see me walk in the door. They were happy that I remembered where their food is, and after eating they settled down for some serious playtime. The cutest thing is how their heads swivel in the identical way when they are following that feather toy with their eyes! It's an unusual movement I've never seen a cat make before, and they both do it! Adorable. As soon as I put the camera away Clovis went after miscellaneous other toys strewn about the room, and rolled on each one, then chewed it to be sure it was dead. Rigby meanwhile had gone back for seconds of dinner. They're doing great!

Pet: Tobey

posted by Robin on 11/24/2009 at 7:20 p.m. Pacific

Today my visit was at about 11 a.m., which apparently is the magic hour when sun shines in on the upstairs landing, so Tobey and I mostly hung out there! I tried to get her to play, and she looked at the toys with mild interest, but she was just too comfortable soaking up the rays.

Pets: Lenny and Ruby

posted by Robin on 11/24/2009 at 7:20 p.m. Pacific

The kitties worked it out nicely: Lenny had dinner while Ruby talked to me about her day and played with her wire toy, and then Ruby had dinner while Lenny came over for some pets. The house sure seems quiet without Lily around! But I enjoy having quality time with the felines.

Pet: Tobey

posted by Angie on 11/22/2009 at 11:10 p.m. Pacific

At last, Tobey came out for me! She watched me warily as I refilled her food, and I sprinkled a few treats to encourage her to come closer. Finally, I lay on the sofa and drooped my hand over (a few treats on the floor beneath it, of course), and Tobey scooped my hand up with her head! Such a sweet girl. I think we're going to be friends now.

Tobey peaks

posted by Robin on 11/20/2009 at 5:40 p.m. Pacific

Tobey came right out to say hello, and watched with great interest as I refilled the food dishes and scooped the litter. It's a cold, wet, dreary day, so I didn't even try to get her out onto the patio. Instead we sat on the stairs so she could get some petting and treats - this photo shows her craning her neck to see if there might be any treats on the next step down! Funny girl. She's doing fine.

Pet: Sis

posted by Robin on 11/18/2009 at 5:20 p.m. Pacific

Today was Sissy's day to spy other dogs, although none of them wanted to meet her, which momentarily disappointed her but she is not one to take things personally! One of them even looked like her wild cousin - kind of a Husky build, but with Sis's coloring. Would have been quite a pair! We had a good (dry) walk, and will have our final excursion tomorrow before she heads back to the old neighborhood. So this will be my last post, since tomorrow night you will see Sis for yourself! She will be so excited to see you - and WOW is she going to have a lot to tell you! Safe journey home.

Pet: Sis

posted by Robin on 11/17/2009 at 6:20 p.m. Pacific

Back to cold and wet weather today for our walk. I haven't tried to schedule a double walk with my other client in the neighborhood mostly because of it being difficult to match schedules, and now with the rain returning, it seems like too much to deal with two soaking wet dogs at once! Maybe if you travel again when the weather is nicer we can set something up. Anyway, Sis has no worries about the weather, and enjoys a cold wet walk as much as a warm dry one!

Miso attacks

Pet: Miso

posted by Robin on 11/17/2009 at 6:20 p.m. Pacific

If ever a cat's face showed impatience, it was Miso today while I did chores. She has decided that my only useful function is to entertain her by flying the feather toy around so she can attack it, and she followed me from room to room as I did the rest of my job, trying to get me back on track. Funny girl! I hope you are ready for lots of playtime when you get back!

posted by Robin on 11/16/2009 at 8:00 p.m. Pacific

Today was VERY windy, almost scary, but of course Sis loved it! She just kept turning into the wind, looking happy as can be. I think she may try to kidnap Ponder when it is time for her to go home, so just be warned.

Pet: Miso

posted by Robin on 11/15/2009 at 6:55 p.m. Pacific

Miso is having too much fun going after the feather toy - when I walk in the door, she gives me a look that says "Let's go!" She's not that interested in the fact that I am giving her fresh food and water, and scooping the litter box. She just wants to stalk and bat and leap after that bunch of feathers. I also noticed that she had nearly closed the bedroom door (not completely due to cleverly placed shoes!) so I guess she is trying to play the door game, even though you aren't there to torment! She is a devious girl. I quite admire that.

Sis in the leaves

I keep thinking how well Sis blends in with all the leaves on the ground, so today tried to get a photo of the camouflage dog! You get the idea. It's getting colder so I'm sure she's glad for her nice fur coat, and as usual she does not seem to notice the rain. She's a happy girl, but I know she'll be so excited to see you next week! I'm not walking her this weekend but as far as I know will be seeing her on Monday, so will report then.

Pet: Miso

posted by Robin on 11/13/2009 at 4:05 p.m. Pacific

Miso was feeling extra playful today - she is a good hunter, with great powers of concentration! We gave the feather toy a good workout. Her eye continues to look fine, and she seems to be doing great!

Pet: Sis

posted by Robin on 11/12/2009 at 7:15 p.m. Pacific

Today I was slow in getting the harness on Sis, and she was quite vocal in telling me to hurry up! That girl loves her walks. I never thought she was bored in the old neighborhood, but I swear she is extra excited and inquisitive in her new surroundings. It's really fun to watch her take in all of the sights.

Pets: Lily, Lenny and Ruby

posted by Robin on 11/12/2009 at 7:15 p.m. Pacific

I think all of the pets are a little discombobulated by the several visitors they had yesterday - ! Ruby and Lenny are hiding more than usual, while Lily is spending more time sticking close to my side. They're all fine, though, and eating extremely well (so they can't be seriously upset!), but I know they'll be happy to have you home and everything back to normal. Lily and I had some good walks, and it was thankfully dry for a change!

Miso on the prowl

posted by Robin on 11/11/2009 at 6:25 p.m. Pacific

Miso did not look too surprised to see me - she was mildly interested for a few minutes and then let me know she had more urgent things going on, like needing a nap. I opened the front blinds for her, and she liked that a lot - many things to inspect in the outside world! We played with the feather toy and then I got out the camera. So many cats turn away (or walk away!) from the camera, but she was fascinated by the wrist strap that hangs down when I hold the camera up, so I got some great shots of her! Her eye looks fine to me, and she seems very healthy and frisky.

Pet: Sis

posted by Robin on 11/10/2009 at 7:00 p.m. Pacific

Finally a sunny day! Sis loves to walk on MLK - she is very curious about every coffee shop, bar, or market we pass, and if I didn't hang onto the leash she would walk right in any open door and make herself at home. She gets lots of smiles from people - making new friends in her new hood! G. is back tomorrow so I won't see Sis, and I'm not sure about the rest of the week, but whenever I do see her, I will post a report.

Pets: Lily, Lenny, and Ruby

posted by Angie on 11/09/2009 at 8:45 p.m. Pacific

It was so nice to see Lily and the cats again. When I came in, Lenny was in the paper sack on the kitchen floor! I wish I'd had my camera with me. Ruby is loving the couch, which suits me fine since it's easier for me to scratch her hind end. Lily, of course, has been a darling, and she had a good time sniffing trees and chasing squirrels on our walks.

Emma and Molly on the couch

Pets: Delphi, Josie, Molly, and Emma

posted by Robin on 11/09/2009 at 8:45 p.m. Pacific

Today we tried some White Ocean Fish which Delphi seemed to like pretty well, and she had a little of the Tofurkey. (Meanwhile, Josie was in a frenzy trying to get some Tofurkey for herself - she's a demon for that stuff!) Emma and Molly were looking extra cute when I arrived this morning (see photo). And I'm sure they will all be happy to see you tomorrow night!

Pet: Sis

posted by Robin on 11/09/2009 at 8:45 p.m. Pacific

More rain! But Sis doesn't mind cutting the walk a little short, because she can dry off running around the house looking for Ponder. And she just loves checking out the neighborhood - she bounces practically every step of the way! I bet she is having as much fun on her vacation as you ar

Pets: Morgan and Bailey

posted by Angie on 11/08/2009 at 7:25 p.m. Pacific

Morgan continues to sit in my lap, purr, and groom my forehead, while Bailey has watched suspiciously with those big, blue eyes. Tonight I sat on the floor with Bailey and let him smell me all over. Finally, he started scooping up my hands for pets. So cute! I gave them a few good sessions with the laser pointer, too. All is well, and I reminded them that you'll be home soon.

Pet: Sis

posted by Robin on 11/08/2009 at 7:25 p.m. Pacific

Sis had a lot to tell me today about how excited she was to go on a walk! Slightly better weather today, so we had a good long walk and explored more new streets. She's doing great, and seems to be having a wonderful time!

Pets: Delphi, Josie, Molly and Emma

posted by Robin on 11/07/2009 at 8:05 p.m. Pacific

Tonight Delphi turned up her nose at canned food until I let Molly have a little - then Delphi decided she liked it and ate a fair amount, and then several greenies. She's definitely not ravenous but she's eating. The other girls are fine - Emma and Molly very interested in what Delphi is having for dinner, and Josie flying around the house, out to the cattery and back in - who knows what she is chasing? They're all dry and warm on this INCREDIBLY rainy day! You guys got out just in time!

Morgan in repose

Morgan and Bailey seemed surprised to have a new person visit them, but it took only a few minutes before Morgan was on my lap (and even licked my nose!) and Bailey was chasing the laser pointer. The laser pointer workout seemed to work up their appetites, and they both ate a good dinner. They're both such great cats.

Pet: Sis

posted by Robin on 11/07/2009 at 8:05 p.m. Pacific

We are having such rainstorms today that I half expect to wake up tomorrow and find myself underwater, but Sis as usual was up for the challenge! We did cut the walk a little short because she was SO wet, and there is so much fur to dry. She is such a little scamp - usually she is so good after her walk, waits while I write a note and dry her off, then happily goes to her crate to get to her toy and treats, but with a kitty to chase after, she is darting all over the place, having a blast! And Ponder totally teases her - very funny to watch. I think Sis is having a great time with her kitty cousin.

Pets: Morgan and Bailey

posted by Robin on 11/06/2009 at 6:55 p.m. Pacific

Today Bailey has decided that I am all right - he wanted to rub against me and be petted. Morgan also comes over for petting when she takes it into her head - but sometimes she is just too comfortable to move from that couch! I did get them both going with a good laser game tonight, so they got a little workout. They're not eating all of their food up but they are definitely eating, and always act all excited when I put fresh food in the dish. They're doing great!

Uncertain Bailey

A nicer day today, and Sis and I had a great time exploring the neighborhood. When we returned from our walk, Ponder was waiting to be let in - boy, how cute is it to watch Sis with her kitty pal! She was so happy and excited. I don't know, I think she may need a kitty sister or brother of her own to live with all the time! She's doing well, and I will be seeing her this weekend too so that will be fun.

Uncertain Bailey

Pets: Morgan and Bailey

posted by Robin on 11/05/2009 at 7:30 p.m. Pacific

Morgan seems happy as a clam - she seems to spend her days (and nights) curled up in the corner of the couch. When I come to visit, she purrs and rubs against my hands, eats some food, then purrs some more. Bailey is a little more uncertain - he sometimes looks at me as if to say "What did you do with Jenni?" (See photo.) But he sure does love to play! And he let me brush him a little tonight, so I think he is warming up. They miss you but they're doing just fine!

Pet: Sis

posted by Robin on 11/05/2009 at 7:30 p.m. Pacific

Sis looked a little surprised to see me today! Her face had written all over it: "Why are you at this house? I only see you at the other house!" But she adjusted quickly and was extremely excited to show me the neighborhood - lots to talk about, in her Sis-language. She seems to be doing just great, and I will see her again tomorrow!

Pets: Morgan and Bailey

posted by Robin on 11/04/2009 at 8:00 p.m. Pacific

A great first visit! The kitties seemed kind of sleepy when I got there, so I sat down on the loveseat to let everyone get used to me. Bailey hopped up on his cat tree to keep an eye on me, and Morgan surprised me by hopping right up beside me and purring like crazy! She sure is a sweetie. After a while I went to the pantry, and that got Bailey's attention in a big way; he ate his dinner for a bit, then let Morgan have a turn. While she was eating, Bailey and I played with the laser toy, then everyone settled down for the evening. All is well!
