No sun today, so Orphey hopped right in my lap and purred and purred, and showed no signs of letting me up until I mentioned that I had to go make his kitty soup! He seemed to understand that. After his snack he played with a toy mouse that I think had a few flakes of catnip on it, because he really liked it, and he let me brush him for a bit. He is so happy to see me every day that I know he will be ecstatic to see you! Since you will probably be en route by the time I can post tomorrow, I'll make this the last report. Have a great trip back!

It's sunny today so after greeting me with rubs and purrs Orphey wanted out onto the back porch to soak up the rays. He's very happy out there! But he did come in to eat his soup, which also makes him happy. He's fine, talkative as ever, but I know he will be so happy to see you in just a few days!

Orphey's routine now seems to be to run to either the couch or the bed when I arrive and flop himself from side to side while he tells me about his day. He really likes the company! When I move away to make his dinner or scoop the litter box he has a look on his face like "What are you doing? You're supposed to be here visiting ME." So I do the chores at lightening speed so I can get back focusing full attention on Orphey!

Orphey was even friendlier today than yesterday! Lots of purring and rubbing, and then he very cleverly planted himself in my lap and curled up and went to sleep, just as I was about to leave, so of course I had to stay an extra 10 minutes or so. I couldn't resist! What a funny guy, but definitely a sweetheart. He's still eating just fine, and apart from missing his people, he's in great shape.

Orphey on the carpet

Orpheus was in a SUPER friendly mood today - lots of purring, rolling around on the floor, nestled in my lap for some petting. Very sweet. He seems to like it when I meow back to him so we have long conversations. It's nice to see how really affectionate he can be!

Today for the first time Orphey met me at the front door - but if he had known what a rainy gray day it is he wouldn't have been so interested in escaping! No sunny back porch today, so instead he wanted me to sit with him in the bedroom while he rolled around and talked to me. (It seems to take him about five minutes a day to get through all of the important information he has to tell me.) Much more affectionate today, and very excited about his lunch. I left him peacefully curled up beside his blankey, ready for a nap!

I explained to Orphey that you are now halfway through your trip, but he didn't seem too impressed with that fact he was a little grouchy today, alternately rubbing against me for pets and then looking at me and hissing. And as usual, a lot to talk about, and I swear he seemed to be saying "You are not the person I want to see - I really prefer Kiran and Lisa, so can you please go get them?" But he was also pretty happy rolling over in his little cat bed in the sun, showing me how fast he can scoot around in a circle. He's eating fine, and kept up a running commentary from the back porch as I was fixing his food. I hope he was telling me how much he likes it!

First day of spring! Orpheus greeted me from his place on the couch, then came over and rolled and rolled on the floor, talking to me the whole time. When he finally finished giving me the news we went to investigate the back porch, and sure enough, lots of sun, so up the cat tree he went. Give that guy a sunny spot, and he is a happy cat.

Today was a long visit day, and Orphey seemed to appreciate having a companion. He came out and ate his soup while I washed dishes, then sat with me on the couch for a while, just watching me - he rubbed against me a few times to say hello but didn't seem to want much petting - just a pal to hang out with. No sun today, but he seemed happy lying on his blanky!

LOTS of sun today so the back porch was toasty warm, which made Orphey extra happy! He sure loves that little bed at the top of his cat tree - he curls up so tight and looks so comfy. He wasn't as interested in being petted today, although he did have a lot to talk about. He is gobbling all of his food, and I think he was curled up in the bedroom when I arrived. He has not made any dashes for the front door that I've seen, although Nicole said he tried it when she was there this weekend. Anyway, I think all is well!

Orphey again headed straight for his cat tree on the back porch, even though there wasn't too much sun today - just kind of bright, so maybe it felt warm to him. He curled up there for a while, and rolled around while I petted him until I thought he might fall out - ! Funny boy. Then he came in for some kitty soup, and after dinner we sat on the couch and he let me brush him. And, as always, he had plenty to say for himself!

Orphey in the sun

Orphey started talking as soon as I opened the front door, and was very happy to tell me all about his day. We sat on the couch and he purred and rolled around and even got in my lap. Then he got tired of that and headed for the kitchen. The back porch was flooded with sunlight (surprisingly, since it has been a pretty rainy, blustery day) so he was practically ecstatic to climb up on his cat tree and soak up some rays! (As you can see from the photo I took with my cell phone.) He's fine, eating well, misses his people but seems happy enough to let me try to substitute.
