Pet: Tobey

posted by Robin on 02/26/2010 at 6:05 p.m. Pacific

Today is very dreary and rainy so Tobey had no interest at all in the patio - instead we stayed inside and she purred while I petted her and gave her occasional treats. She even let me brush her a little bit! I keep trying to get her to play, but she pointedly ignores any toys I try to tempt her with - the look on her face says "I'm relaxed with you, but not THAT relaxed!" Hope you have smooth travels home tomorrow.

Tobey at the door

posted by Robin on 02/25/2010 at 5:35 p.m. Pacific

Tobey came right down to greet me, rubbing against my legs like she was expecting me! She ran upstairs with me to be sure I was doing the chores correctly, and then we went out to the backyard to enjoy the mild weather. She didn't really like the sound of a dog barking somewhere in the neighborhood, but she still got some fresh air and looked around with her big eyes for a while. She's doing great!

Pets: Jackson, Kiku, & Stella

posted by Robin on 02/03/2010 at 6:20 p.m. Pacific

Today each kitty wanted their turn to sit in my lap (the boys shared for a while until Kiku got tired of Jackson pushing on him, so he kicked him off). They are all such sweethearts! Then we hunted - or Stella and Kiku did, while Jackson hid under the bed. Everyone is doing fine, but I know they miss you and will be SO happy to have their people back tomorrow night! I bet I'll be able to hear the purring from here. Safe journey home!

Pets: Jackson, Kiku, & Stella

posted by Robin on 02/02/2010 at 4:15 p.m. Pacific

Today I got all three of the kitties hunting! Kiku has some great jump moves, and of course Stella is small but fast as lightning. Jackson's signature move appears to be hiding under the bed and jumping out occasionally at the bird as it flies by - he didn't have much success with that strategy but seemed to be having fun anyway. They all wanted to cuddle on the couch for a while too, and they got kind of vocal when they thought I was taking too long with the chores and cutting into their playtime. These three know how to ask for what they want!

Pet: Paka

posted by Angie on 02/01/2010 at 10:10 p.m. Pacific

Paka was a playing machine today! She loves batting at something under the kitchen rug, whether it be my hand or the blue fur ball toy or nothing at all. We also played with the nearly shredded leaf. I did manage to get her to submit to some petting, and she purred like a bandsaw, but most of all she wanted to play. I sure will miss that girl!

Jackson on a chair

Someone (i.e. some cat) knocked over the yoga mat in the living room, partially unrolled it, and used it as a scratching pad overnight - lots of little pieces of blue rubber scattered about! I'm not naming names, except to say that Kiku was right beside me while I swept up the evidence (I don't know if that indicates guilt on his part?) I put the mat in the bedroom closet and brought the scratching post up from the basement - Kiku immediately went to town on it, which again IS NO INDICATION OF GUILT. Ha! Kitties are all fine, and Stella is back in top hunting form after her shy spell yesterday. Not sure if you can see from the photo, but Jackson plopped himself down on top of my notepaper so I couldn't finish my note to you at the end of the visit. These kitties are sly - they try all of their tricks to keep me around!
